Tyler James Quintal, 20, of East Freetown, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at home. Born in New Bedford, he was the beloved son of Dr. Laurie Gramlich Parker and Mark Quintal. Tyler had intense struggles early on as he battled autism and later epilepsy. Despite his challenges, he was an overcomer and changed the lives of all who knew him. Tyler impacted everyone he encountered due to his kind, gentle nature. He was a pure soul and everyone who met Ty loved him. He had an infectious smile which would light up a room. Tyler’s favorite activity was driving in the car- anywhere. He was non-verbal but would utilize sign language that he wanted to go for a ride. Once in the car, he would hum and smile. He loved music of any kind. He loved attending his cousin’s sporting events, helping mom with cooking, watching birds, being outdoors, swimming, traveling to his Florida home and working on projects with his best buddy, (step-dad) Jimmy. Tyler had many adventures traveling with his family. He enjoyed spending time in the hot tub, at family’s and friend’s homes and at the beach. A gentle giant and free spirited lovebug, Ty loved people and will be greatly missed, though he is celebrating and talking for the first time with Jesus Christ in heaven. Tyler loved hugs from his adoring grandmother Grammy Quintal before she passed and spending time with his father in the pool or going for boat rides with his brothers. Tyler’s family includes his parents, Dr. Laurie Gramlich Parker and James Parker, Mark Quintal and Corinne Ross; his grandparents, Raymond E. Gramlich, Jr. and Susan J. Gramlich; Antone G. Quintal and Bernice D. Quintal, both deceased; his brothers, Alex Quintal and Austin Quintal and wife Lindy; his step-sisters, Jessica and Kelly Parker; his uncle, J. Matthew Gramlich and wife Tammy; his aunt, Mary Fournier and husband Michael; his cousins, Raymond E. Gramlich, IV, Sophia and Sean Gramlich, Joseph and Matthew Gramlich, Kayleigh Anthony, Lauren and Michael Fournier; his uncle, Chris Quintal and aunt, Joyce White; his cousins Erin White, Sarah Mangelson, Christine Segura, Adam Quintal, Brittany Wall and several other cousins and relatives who loved him.
