Therese (Langlois) Poineau passed away at Nemasket Health Care Center in Middleboro on Wednesday, July 7th, 2021, at the age of 90. She was the wife of the late Roderique Poineau, Jr. with whom she spent 61 years of marriage. Therese was the daughter of the late Rudolph Langlois and Selina (Chapdelaine) Langlois. She was born in the City of New Bedford where she remained a lifelong resident.
Therese was a graduate of St. Anthony’s High School and was then a stitcher for many years but devoted most of her life to being a devout mother and grandmother who always went by the name of ‘Mémère. Therese enjoyed many things, including casinos with her late husband, going to bingo, and completing a puzzle. She especially enjoyed watching the Patriots win during football season. Therese was a woman who was full of life and always had a quick comeback to anything someone may say to her. Up until the end, Therese was a woman who was always on her toes and ready to give her two cents.
Therese is survived by her three sons; Gerald Poineau and his wife Lynn of Rochester, Robert Poineau and his wife Laurel of Acushnet, and Donald Poineau and his wife Jodie of Fairhaven; 5 grandchildren; Kayleigh Poineau, Kyrie Poineau, Chris Poineau, Taylor Sullivan, and Nicole Poineau; and one great-granddaughter Madalyn de Medeiros. She also had many nieces and nephews.
Private funeral arrangements are in the care of the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford.
