Richard R. McLeod, 52, of New Bedford, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Jennifer (Rei) McLeod, with whom he shared 20 years of marriage.
Born in Trenton, NJ, he was the son of Yulin (Elie) Rosales and the late Aldwyn McLeod. Richard moved to the area over 30 years ago, after serving in the Navy.
Richard was a graduate of McCorristin Catholic High School and worked at Saint Vincent’s Services in Fall River as a Milieu Manager for 10 years, after leaving his employment at the Dartmouth Mall after 20 years. Richard had a deep love for “his kids” at St. Vincent’s. He loved spending time with his family and friends. There would never be a cookout that you wouldn’t have found him behind the grill. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan. He enjoyed playing poker, spades and making others laugh. He touched many hearts and will be deeply missed.
In addition to his wife, Jennifer, he is survived by his loving children, Amber Ferreira of Philadelphia, PA, Cody Ferreira of New Bedford, Christian McLeod of Silverdale, WA and Nicholas McLeod of New Bedford; his sister, Nicole McLeod of Levittown, PA; his brother, Corey Rosales of Richmond, TX; his step-father, Maurice Rosales of Hemet, CA; his in-laws, John and Isabelle Arruda of New Bedford; sisters-in-law Elizabeth Rei and Sonia Rei; his brother-in-law Brian Rei all from New Bedford; his godfather Christopher Elie of San Diego, CA; his godmother Daphne Boisselle of Ewing, NJ; his godchildren Desmond Caldwell of Bordentown, NJ, Jordan Goncalves, of New Bedford, and Darnell Storey, Jr. of Levittown, PA. He was survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was the grandson of the late Victoria Elie.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 9AM from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM in Our lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford, MA 02746. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 – 8:00PM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.
