Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, a son of John and Norma (Blake) Mello, he had resided in Freetown, Acushnet and New Bedford.
He was a graduate of Apponequet Regional High School in Freetown and received an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Cape Cod Community College.
Paul had worked in the field of quality control and inspection for both Polaroid and Multilayer Coding Technologies in New Bedford, and most recently for Johnson & Johnson in Bridgewater. When he felt like he really needed and/or wanted something then he would usually excel even if it took some figuring out, problem solving, and analyzing, he would succeed at his best! He even happened to help other people and came off as being a hero sometimes to. He also assisted with coaching his youngest son, Michael's baseball team(s) mainly, as he also assisted with coaching both his sons personally and professionally with any general activities & life skills.
Paul enjoyed fishing, sports, playing video games and loved to shop.
Surviving in addition to his parents are two sons, Matthew Mello and Michael Mello of North Dartmouth; his siblings, Randy Mello and wife Susana of Jacksonville, NC, Amy Prokop and husband Michael of Brookline, NH and Russell Mello and wife Lisa of E. Freetown; and nieces and nephews, Brett, Haylie, Max and Samantha. He was the former husband of Carmen L. (Sousa) Mello to whom he shared 27 years of marriage with.
Private services are in the care of Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA.
