Maria T. daSilva

Born in Santa Maria, Azores, a daughter of the late Guilherme and Maria G. (Baptista) Ferreira, she immigrated to New Bedford in 1967 and has been a resident of Fairhaven for over 25 years.

She was educated in Portugal and worked as a stitcher in local textile mills. She enjoyed being with her husband, traveling to the Azores, loved soccer, and was a big fan of Benfica.

In addition to her husband she is survived by two sisters: Fernanda Rei of Spartanburg, SC, Maria L. Ribeiro of the Azores, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Maria T. Avelar and Idalina Baptista.

The family would like to especially thank Bob and Linda Longworth, Donald Rei, and the staff at The Royal of Fairhaven for their special care given to Maria and Marcelino.

Her Funeral will be held on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 8:00AM from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00AM in St. Mary’s Church, Main St., Fairhaven. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven.
