Lynne E. (Sterling) Roderiques was born on 12/04/1954 in Acushnet, MA of the late Arthur Sterling of New Bedford, MA and Barbara (Hathaway) Sterling of Fairhaven, MA. She was strongly influenced by her late aunt Margaret (Maggie) Hathaway. She departed this life on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Lynne is survived by her devoted husband, Simon P. Roderiques, of 47 wonderful years; her children: Scott Roderiques, Krista Johnson and her husband Thomas, Timothy Roderiques and his wife Jessica, Daniel Roderiques and his fiancé Stephanie DeDeus; her siblings: Richard Sterling, Cynthia Sterling, Douglas Sterling and pre-deceased by her siblings Scott Sterling, Shelia Sterling, and Kim Anthony. She is also survived by her 11 loving grandchildren: Cody, Amber, Noah, Hailee, Collin, Caleb, Chase, Kyleigh, Ava, Trevor and Nolan. As well as many nieces and nephews and countless people whom she held near and dear in her heart.
She was a lifelong member of The South Baptist Church in New Bedford, MA where she organized many activities within, such as Sunday school, Bible Study, and Vacation Bible School. She was an active member of the Fairhaven Grange. Lynne worked as an Office Assistant 1, for the City of New Bedford’s Health Department for 20 years.
The simplest pleasures brought joy to Lynne. She lived her life guided by her faith. She treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her passions were boating, traveling, and exploring local beaches for seashells and sea glass. She found beauty in all of nature and loved tending to her garden. Lynne loved to host, decorate parties, and loved nothing more than a great cup of coffee and good conversation. Her summers were spent camping with family and searching for new lighthouses to add to her collection. She was always up for a board game with her grandchildren or a Sunday afternoon of baking.
Lynne will deeply missed and live forever in our hearts.
