Jose J. Caban

Jose J. Caban (Joe) age 74, of New Bedford, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 2, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Elisa (Rivera) Caban whom he shared 55 years of marriage.

Joe was born In Mayaguez, Puerto Rico and lived many years in Bronx, NY. He was the son of the late Jose Felix Caban and Herminia(Santiago) Caban and the brother of the late Altagracia (Alty) Caban.

Joe worked for the city of New York as a Paramedic for many years. He was quite the entrepreneur in his lifetime. He owned businesses which included his own taxi service in NYC and a Food Truck that he enjoyed taking his kids with him to different parks in the city. When he moved to New Bedford, he became a driving school Owner/Instructor.

Joe had a great love for baseball and was an avid NY Yankee fan. He enjoyed listening to oldies and watching Bruce Lee movies with his children.

Joe was a dedicated Christian who lived his life serving the Lord.

Joe was blessed with a large and loving family whom he loved and enjoyed spending time with, especially his grandchildren who called him “Dad” and most importantly the love of his life, his wife. Joe was the greatest husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed.

Joe is survived by his wife Elisa, his children, Yolanda Perperas and her husband Peter Perperas of Taunton, Mayra Adames of New Bedford, Jeanette Vial and her husband Michael Vial of Bakersfield, Letticia Caban of New Bedford, Jacob Caban and his wife Jessica of New Bedford, Jessica Cecilio and her husband Wayne Cecilio of Bakersfield and his nephew Mark Verdejo and his wife Naomi Verdejo of New Bedford. His grandchildren, Chayrel, Justin, Michael, Devin, Ryen, Jordan, Tyler, Elias, Devon, Jacob Jr, Lazarus, Wayne Jr and Isaiah. His great grandchildren, Sophia, Sire, Kyris, Lia, Jakoah, Kora, Nyzaiah and Malachi.

His Visitation and Service will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd.,New Bedford, MA 02745.

A burial service will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 10:00am in Pine Grove Cemetery for family and friends. Everyone to meet at the grave, closest to front entrance.
