Germaine C. Leger

A lifelong New Bedford resident, she was the daughter of the late Emilien N. and Josephine (Bertrand) Bussiere.

Mrs. Leger was a graduate of Greater New Bedford Vocational High School and worked as a stitcher in the local garment industry. She was an active parishioner of St. Therese Church singing in the choir and a member of the Couples Club. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and was the seamstress for the Whaler’s Drum Corp.

Survivors include her children, Raymond J. Leger, Jr. and his wife Paula of New Bedford; Paul D. Leger and Nancy Leger of Florida; Denise Cabral and her husband Fred of New Bedford; Michele Taylor and her husband Barry Scott of Fairhaven; Marie Kelley and her husband James of New Bedford; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Daniel Leger and the sister of the late Armand, Henry, Elphege, Napoleon and Maurice Bussiere and Eva Michaud.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 10 am at St. Joseph -St. Therese Church, Acushnet Ave, New Bedford. Friends and relatives are invited to meet directly at church. Burial in Scared Heart Cemetery, New Bedford. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4-8pm. Funeral arrangements are in the care of ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford.
