Edward Souza

Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Antone V. and Catherine (Leite) Souza.

Edward was a graduate of New Bedford High School, was a proud Veteran in the Army, and worked at Silverstein’s for many years. He married the love of his life, and you would find them together at a few of their favorite restaurants, always with a grin on his face and happy to be socializing with the other patrons and staff.

He was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, and a recipient of the Marian Medal. He loved attending the Portuguese Feast yearly with his family, and many memories were made there. Eddie passed on the technique of cooking at the spit to his grandsons to continue the tradition. He was an avid reader and you could find him at home with a book or making a puzzle. Spending time with his family and grandchildren was very important, and he will be deeply missed by many.

In addition to his wife, Rita, he is survived by his loving daughters, Joann Aubut and her husband Richard of South Dartmouth, and Donna Wade and her husband Glenn of North Reading; he was predeceased by his son Robert Souza of Cape Coral. His grandchildren Jameson Aubut and his fiancé, Keira Gibson, Taylor Aubut and his wife Ashleigh, Evan Wade and his fiancé, Holly Hoffmann, Cameron Wade, Kaitlyn Becker and her husband Jason, and Shannan Schaeffer and her husband Paul, his 3 great grandsons and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 9:00AM from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM in ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745.
