Dorothy M. Niles

Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Manuel Rogers, Jr. and Ellen (Counsell) Rogers.

Ms. Niles had worked as a dietary assistant at St. Luke’s Hospital for 18 years and also worked at Aerovox for 26 years.

Dot was a member of the Retirement Club at St. Luke’s Hospital, the Women’s Group at Acushnet Wesley Church and a former member of the Golden Agers at St. Andrew’s Church. She loved animals, enjoyed playing Bingo and taking drives in the country and by the ocean. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her family includes a daughter, Sharon L. Cormier and her husband Donald of New Bedford; five grandchildren, Matthew B. and Tracie M. Cormier, Justin and Eric Niles and Jennifer Mehneit; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jade Kent.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, January 18, 2016 from 10 am- 12 pm with a Funeral Service at 12 pm in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fairhaven Animal Shelter, 200 Bridge St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
