Doreen leaves behind three children, a daughter, Kerri Harding Dias and her spouse John Dias, two sons, John Nascimento and Keegan Wilde and her beloved grandson Damian Nascimento. She also leaves a sister Glynis Sylvia and two nephews.
Doreen grew up in New Bedford, MA, graduating from NBHS in 1979. She later earned her associates degree in Early Childhood Education from Fisher College. Doreen was a strong advocate for destigmatizing life with HIV and addiction and worked as a peer advocate to support others in accessing health care and other services. She was also an avid reader who loved the ocean, and she spent as much time as she could at the beach in the South End.
For the past four years she has been cared for by the wonderful women of Seven Hills – Tanglewood.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 3, 2020 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A celebration of her life will be at 2 pm in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
