Argina V. Silva

Born in Ribeira Grande, Acores, Portugal, a daughter of the late Sarafim Horta da Silva and Almorina Paulina Vieira, she immigrated to the United States in 1986.

In addition to being a homemaker, she worked as an embroider in Portugal for several years. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, embroidery, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by five children; Ana Almeida and her husband Jose of E. Freetown, Ilda, Idelta, Zelia, and Jose Damaso all of Portugal, 31 grandchildren including Marco Almeida and his wife Sarah, Nelson Almeida and his wife Elizabeth all of New Bedford, 43 great-grandchildren including McKenzie Almeida and Julien Almeida both of New Bedford and six great-great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Fernando and Joao Damaso.

Her Funeral will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 8:00AM from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00AM in Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford. Visiting hours Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00PM. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
