Alyce (Saunders) DiGregorio, 68, of New Bedford passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2020 in her daughter’s home after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Francis DiGregorio. They had just celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on September 26th.
Born in Somerville, a daughter of the late Ruth (Saunders) Byrne she lived most of her life in the area.
Mrs. DiGregorio was a homemaker to her three children and nine grandchildren.
In her spare time, she was extremely crafty. She enjoyed crocheting and started a crocheting group at Lolly’s Café. She also enjoyed sewing, ceramics, and she knit a blanket for each member of her family. Alyce was the matriarch of her family, she had a free, Gypsy like, spirit, and she put everything bluntly.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Wendy Adair and her wife Danielle of Fairhaven, Heidi Teixeira and her husband JC of Fairhaven, and Bonnie DiGregorio and her husband David of New Bedford; grandchildren, Nicholas DiGregorio, Breanna Mesquitta, Ethan Hardy, Olivia DiGregorio, Noah DiGregorio, Lily Teixeira, Mathew Teixeira, and Lilah DiGregorio; a great grandchild, Lucius Nieves, a sister, Laura Girard; a brother, Jack Byrne; grand dogs, Tobey and Jax; a many beloved and special nieces, cousins, and aunts.
Her memorial visitation will be Friday, October 9, 2020 5-8 p.m. in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to sow a plant in her memory. For online tribute/directions www.rock-funeralhome.com.
