Tony Pirtle, 71, left this world April 2, leaving behind a host of family, friends, dogs, and a few guitars. His voice, his humor, his love, and just his presence on this earth will be missed beyond definition.
He was born December 17th 1952 in New Albany, IN to Mary Rose (Didelot) Pirtle and Knofel Pirtle. He grew up (and remained) in Floyds Knobs, IN where he was number 3 out of 10 total children. It was never a dull moment in the Pirtle household, the stories still heard today can put a smile on any face. He was the apple of his 7 sisters' eyes and the kind of friend you could call on for anything. He married his wife Debbie (Archibald) Pirtle of almost 47 years in October of 1977 with whom he had 2 children and a wonderful life.His passions were for music and the outdoors, anytime he was outside or had an instrument in his hands you could see the joy it brought him.
He was also passionate about his family. He leaves behind his wife that he cherished, Debbie Pirtle, a son (best friend) and daughter-in-law, Aaron and Maggie Pirtle, and an adoring daughter, Danielle Pirtle, both of Greenville, IN. He also leaves behind 9 siblings; John Pirtle, Margaret Hersey, Kathleen Fischer (Carl), Mary Artnz (Rick), Ann Paris (Don), Jan Birdwell (Jim), Sheila Missi (Marvin),sister in law Jane Pirtle, and brother in law Mike Wells. His wife's family includes David Archibald, Mona Archibald, Joan(Ed) Carver, and Lisa(Bryan) Schafer He was preceded in death by his parents Knofel and Mary Rose, father and mother in law Floyd and Betty(Little) Archibald, brother Joseph Pirtle, sister Katie Wells, as well as brother in law Floyd Archibald and brother in law Darrick Hersey, and sister in law Barbara Pirtle.
Tony lived a great life full of smiles, laughter, love and music. His wife adored him, his son was his best friend and music partner, and his daughter thought he hung the moon. The world is a quieter place now, but listen hard and you can hear the music.
A visitation for Tony will be held Friday, April 5, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana 47150. A visitation will occur Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana 47150. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
