Thomas "Tom" Walton Sr., at the age of 89, completed his earthly journey surrounded by the family he adored. His passing leaves a legacy of enduring love, a life rich in laughter, and a family bonded by his unwavering devotion. Tom's 69-year marriage to his beloved wife Donna was a testament to enduring partnership, filled with mutual respect and affection.
Tom's life story began in Louisville and unfolded into a remarkable narrative of dedication and passion. His career in the printing industry spanned decades, starting at Gibbs-Inman Printing Co., National Printing Ink, and eventually leading him to international ventures with Hostmann-Steinberg. His professional life was not just a career; it was a testament to his commitment to excellence and innovation.
A proud Korean War veteran, Tom served his country with honor and continued to demonstrate his commitment to fellow veterans as an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3281. His service spoke volumes of his patriotism and sense of duty.
A 1952 graduate of St. Xavier High School, ardent fan of University of Kentucky athletics and a lifelong enthusiast of the Kentucky Derby, Tom's passions extended beyond his professional and service life. His love for adventure was also seen in his hobbies, which included deep sea fishing, hunting, and golf, each pursued with zeal and joy.
Tom's deep faith as a Catholic and his membership in St. Mary’s Catholic Church were central to his life, providing him with guidance and comfort. His faith was a source of strength, not only for himself but also for those around him.
Known for his quick wit and ability to tell a good joke, Tom was the heart of family gatherings, especially during the holidays. His presence brought light and warmth, creating cherished memories for his family.
Tom is lovingly remembered by his wife Donna; daughters Tami (Bob) Grable, Nanci (Michael) Hoolihan, Sue Ann (Ben) Mattox, son David Walton, and sister, Pat (Dave) Peterson. He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Dorothy Heller Walton, a sister Dot McMillen and a son Thomas “Skip” Jr. His legacy lives on through his 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A private visitation for the family will be from 11:00-12:00 at Kraft Funeral Home on Spring Street in New Albany.
All friends are invited to a Funeral Mass on Saturday, Jan.20th at 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Albany. A burial service will be held immediately following the Mass at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park on Charlestown Road in New Albany. All are invited to a gathering at Covered Bridge Clubhouse in Sellersburg following the burial service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the church would be a heartfelt tribute to a life so beautifully lived.
