Kenneth (Kenny) Roy Martin, 70, passed away quietly during the night, Tuesday, January 11, 2021, at home with his family in Santa Claus, Indiana. Kenny was known best for his story telling, hard work ethic, and love for the outdoors. All of his life, up until his amputation, he worked from sunup till sundown. He put in the early morning hours at his brother, Terry’s, machine shop then worked late into the night at GE. He loved hunting, fishing, and camping. After his amputation, he took up the hobby of photography and hand feeding the deer in his backyard. After moving in with his daughter, he found a new love for cruising the village in his golf cart, enjoying the peaceful outdoors and wildlife there.
Sgt. Kenneth R. Martin served in the United States Air Force from 1971-1974 where he was stationed in Alaska and Cannon AFB, New Mexico. He served as an Air Passenger Specialist and cook in the Vietnam War.
He was born on April 19, 1951 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Emerson A. Martin and Viola C. (Stoneceipher) Martin. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Carolyn Rich and Linda Marie.
Kenny is survived by his loving daughter, Kendra Martin Darling and son-in-law, Jonathan; grandchildren, Ellie and Eli Darling; brothers, Wayne (Sandy) Martin and Terry (Nancy) Martin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Kenny will be held Monday, January 17, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
Kenny will be laid to rest in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
