Jackie was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on May 17, 1952, to John and Bonnie Peters. Jackie unexpectedly died in her home in Virginia on December 28, 2022, and was buried at Kraft Graceland in New Albany in a private ceremony on January 4, 2023, near her parents and grandparents.
Jackie graduated from Floyd Central in 1970 where she and Jim became best friends. Jackie later graduated from Indiana University and Purdue University in Creative Writing with the highest honors. She was a brilliant person.
She and Jim were married in Idaho on August 21, 1973. Jackie left IU to visit Jim in Idaho, and never returned. Jim was 20, and Jackie was 21. Jackie and Jim started their adventure with Jim in the U.S. Navy - Submarines for the next seven years.
In 50 years of marriage, Jackie and Jim traveled extensively. Planning a trip, and then taking it always brought great joy to Jackie’s life.
Jackie leaves behind her beloved husband, Jim, and her much-loved cats Picco and Bella who have given her much comfort and love. She also leaves so many who love and adore her, her brother John and his wife Jenny, her sister Suzanne and her husband Butch, her Mother-in-law, Helen Pierce, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws, who will always love and miss her.
