Henry Don Jeffries Sr.

HENRY DON JEFFRIES, SR., 92, died Monday, May 12, 2014. The son of the late Don Greer and Gladys Prillman Jeffries, Henry was born on July 23, 1921 in Caryville, TN. He was an electrician and retired from LG&E. Henry was a U.S. Marine WWII veteran, life member of VFW Post 15015, charter member of the National WWII Museum, lifetime member of the NRA, sponsored member of the USO, commander of the DAV, longtime associate member of the FOP and senior member of the USAA. He also was a member of Fairview General Baptist Church in Taswell, he was a 32nd Degree Mason, a lifetime member of the History Club, lifetime member of the Handyman Club, founding member of St. Joseph’s Indian School, honorary citizen of Boys Town and honorary chairman of NRCC’s Business Advisory Council. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Agnes Colcord Jeffries; sister, Geraldine Branham; and brother, Nathan Jeffries.

Survivors include his children, H. Don Jeffries, Jr., Judith Jeffries, John Nathan Colcord Jeffries, Davidson Fitzpatrick Jeffries and Anne Jeffries Beach (Craig); grandchildren, Christopher Michael Voyles, Henry Don “Hank” Jeffries III, Matthew Jeffries and Jason Jeffries; great grandchildren, Mason Jeffries, Sean Jeffries, Amelya Voyles, Christopher Voyles, Jr. and Brookelyn Siders; former daughter-in-law, Sandy Humphress; and special caregiver, Shirley Collins.

Visitation will be 10:00 am ~ 12:00 pm Saturday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service will be 12:00 pm Saturday in the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel with burial and military honors to follow in Eastridge Fairview Cemetery in Taswell, Indiana.
