Verna passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital, on Saturday, March 5, 2011. Verna is predeceased by her loving husband, Norman Thompson, her brother George Robbins, and her sister Irene Fields. Her surviving brothers, Ken, Harold and Harvey, along with one sister, Marie live in Ontario. Verna is the mother of three, Marilyn (Patrick), Carol (Joseph Carol), and James (Queenie). She is the grandmother of four, with one grandchild on the way, and the great-grandmother of five. She was also an auntie, great-aunt, great-great aunt, and a good friend. Verna lived in Ontario most of her life, moving to Winnipeg in 1978. She has always been a strong advocate of volunteer work and was a member of the V.O.N, the United Church Women (UCW), and Girl Guides of Canada. Verna was also a member of the TD Canada Trust Retirees, and the YMCA. Verna's warm, contagious smile brightens our spirits. She is cherished so dearly by us all. Her memory will be kept alive forever, permanently etched deep within our hearts. Public visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Thursday, March 10, 2011, and Friday, March 11, 2011 10:00 a.m. till 12:00 Noon, at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. Dr. Sharon Wilson, at Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Dr., Winnipeg, on Saturday, March 12 at 11: 00 a.m. Interment to follow at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. No. 1 E. at Navin Road.
