She will be deeply missed by her children: Sandra (Mike), Dennis, Al, Barry (Julie), Audrey, Randy, Carol, Brian, and Dave; grandchildren Matthew (Robyn), James, Ethan, Jacqueline (Wes), Lisa (Leroy), Caitlin, Dan, Breanne, Shawn, Cierra (Herman), Savanna, Kayla, Madelaine; greatgrandchildren Jaiya, Landyn, Luxon, and Avynne. She is also survived by 3 sisters-in-law Eva Heinrichs, Anne Elias, and Sue Reimer, and one brother-in-law Frank Blatz. She also leaves to mourn numerous nieces and nephews, her extended family Suzette and Adam Chrobak, and cherished friends John and Izzy Heide.
Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Jake (Jacob), brothers George, Jacob, Carl, Claude, and Peter; sisters Tina, Mary, Anne, and Maggie (Margarite); as well as sisters-in-law Suzie and Marie; special friend Elaine (Blatz); brothers-in-law Peter, George, Abraham (Abe), Norman, and Peter.
Mom was born in Halbstadt, Manitoba on June 20, 1926 to Jacob and Maria Heinrichs, and baptised at the age of 18 in the Summerfeld Church. She worked various jobs in the Winkler area until moving to Winnipeg, where she worked in the King Edward Hospital until her marriage to Dad on November 15, 1953 in Schauntzenfeld, Manitoba. It was then that the adventure began for Mom, moving right away to Red Deer, Alberta where they lived until returning to Winnipeg in 1955 with their first-born child. Over the next ten years, they added 5 more children to the roster and in 1966, they moved to Starbuck, Manitoba for only 6 months when Dad was transferred to Ottawa, where they resided for the next 6 years and added 3 more children to the family. In 1972, they family returned to Winnipeg and lived in St. Vital until 2014. At that time, Mom moved to Lindenwood Manor where she resided for her remaining years. She was grateful for the friendships she formed as well as the excellent care she received in these last years. Mom particularly enjoyed the many activities she participated in while in residence. A special thank you to Susan Thiessen for her daily devotional visits with Mom, and Helen Reimer for the friendship and fellowship she gave to Mom until the very end.
Mom’s first priority was always to her Lord Jesus, who she relied on and trusted fully to see her through the daily trials of life; and she praised him daily for the many blessings in her life. She taught all of her children to love the Lord and gave us encouragement at all times to trust and have the faith that God is in control.
A Come and Go Viewing and Visitation will take place from 7:00 – 8:30 on Thursday October 10 at Green Acres Funeral Home, Highway 1 East at Navin Road. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 11 at Morrow Gospel Church, 755 St. Anne’s Road, with interment to follow at Green Acres Cemetery.
