After a long and happy life, Olga Luby passed away at the age of 98 with family by her side.
She is survived by her loving daughters Pauline Thorarinson and Myrtle Novakoski, Diane Drapotoy and her caring son in law Rudy Novakoski.
Also, survived are 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 14 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sisters Sophie Mlodzinski and Helen Kazina and one brother Julius Kazina (age 100).
Olga was predeceased by her parents Dmytro and Eva Kazina, her first husband John Sawchuk and second husband Bill Luby. Olga was greatly saddened this year to lose her best friend for over 70 years Bertha Pasieka (age 100).
Olga was born the 6th child of a very large Ukrainian family (a hard working family who owned a farm in the Tyndall area). She was predeceased by her sisters Mary, Anne, Julie, Jean, Stella, Marjorie and brothers Mike, John, Nick, Steve, Raymond and Henry.
Olga was a homemaker who worked hard at gardening, canning, cooking and crocheting. Becoming a widow early in life it was necessary for her to work outside the home also. She enjoyed her time with Bill Luby at their property at Leisure Falls, especially the fishing. Her pleasures included playing cards with friends and relatives, scrabble with her daughters, bingo with her sisters and listening to music on the radio, especially the Zabava program.
Her family appreciates the care she received from everyone at East Gate Lodge in Beauesjour for over 7 years. A special thank you to Cindee Bialek for being helpful and understanding during some difficult times and to Sally Anderson for doing those extra favours for Olga. Virginia Kubish brightened many of her days with a nice visit and a delicious dessert.
A Celebration of Life will follow at a later date.
