Kevin Alexander Bailey

Our family sadly announces the passing of our beloved Kevin. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour and his ability to tell stories that made us all laugh at family gatherings. He was tall, lean and a handsome man, who commanded attention when he entered a room - but always tempered with a big welcoming smile. Kevin was generous and loyal to his family, friends and colleagues. He was a giver, never a taker. We never heard him say an unkind word about anyone. He loved rock music, animals and police shows. In short, he was a kind, loving and compassionate soul who will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Kevin was a consummate professional. He followed in his father’s footsteps and became a policeman. He began his distinguished career with the Winnipeg Police Service October 24th, 1977 and proudly retired on April 24th 2010. Affectionately known as “Beetle”, by his colleagues, Kevin made a lasting impact throughout his career. As a dedicated field training officer, he mentored dozens of recruits, earning the respect of those he worked with due to his unwavering work ethic. Kevin had a deep passion for special duty assignments, often working at concerts and sports events. He took great pride in his role as a police officer, committed to serving and protecting his community with honour and dedication. One thing was always certain when you were partnered with Beetle - he would always have your back and ensure your safety, no matter the danger or circumstance.

He is survived by his dedicated wife of 36 years Kimberley Kerr, his sons Travis and Kyle, his aunts Caron and Joan, his uncle Arthur, his cousins Jane and Glenn, Ali, Luca and Dennis. His parents Alexander and Evelyn Bailey, long deceased, would be proud of their precious son.

Rest in Peace our beautiful Kevin - son, husband, father, nephew, cousin, friend and colleague.
