It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my husband, Dan Tysz, after a brief cancer-related illness on January 25, 2022.
Dan is survived by his wife Linda, brother-in-law Ken Lucko (Joan), sister-in-law Bernice Lucko, Aunt Helen Masynk, and their extended families. Dan was predeceased by his parents Jack and Stephanie Tysz and brother-in-law Alan Lucko. Dan is also being missed by Archie and Joey, his fur babies.
Dan’s career at MTS began with driving a forklift, going to pole climbing school (not a big success) and moving on to working at numerous exchanges. After a number of years he ventured into the Sales and Marketing Division of the company, and later moved up to corporate sales. He was very conscientious and knowledgeable of the product he was selling. Dan was able to retire at age 51 with bridging his salary. He was overjoyed.
Friends were very important to Dan. He maintained friendships with high school buddies and colleagues from the early working days at MTS. He especially looked forward to having good friends, Judy and Roger, out at the lake.
Hobbies were a huge part of Dan’s life. They included making pine furniture, carving fish from pine, building model airplanes, designing a complex model railroad layout, and repurposing model cars to slot cars. He was never bored and could always find something to work on.
Over the years Dan purchased many cars and has pictures of every one! He was in his element when ordering a new vehicle. His latest acquisition was a 2019 red corvette stingray. He loved that car!
Lake life was an integral part of Dan’s life. It all started in Lac Du Bonnet and then Lake of the Woods. Dan helped build the cabin on Cameron Island, he became involved with The Royal Lake of the Woods Yacht Club, and served on the board of directors as Harbor Master. After selling and buying our neighbor’s property, Dan decided 18 years of Island living was enough and bought a road access beautiful home on the Storm Bay Road.
A life well lived.
I would like to give a special thanks to the navigation team at Cancer Care, to the staff at Urgent Care and N4 at Victoria Hospital for their kindness and excellent care.
A Celebration of Life Service will be announced when it is safe to do so.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a pet shelter of your choice.
