Lawrence was born on August 12,1973. He was the first of many children to bless Maria and Samuel Lawrence. His life started as loud as his first cry into the world, a force to be reckoned with. At 2 years old he was an older brother for the first time becoming protective of his sister fairly quick. Life would take a sudden turn for Lawrence and the small family. He would be diagnosed with leukemia and begin years of treatment that would test him both physically and mentally; forever shaping the way he would face each challenge in life. With each therapy and let down he fought to live a healthy life, alongside his parents and siblings. He would go on the annual camping trips sponsored by the hospital for children suffering from various forms of cancer. These trips would remind him that he was sick and he never wanted to be seen as sick. He wanted to be seen like other children. And after so many years of treatment Lawrence and his family would finally hear the words they prayed for: 'you are in remission.'
Lawrence would go on to UCSD, unfortunately his studies would be cut short due to complications that arose from years of radiation and chemotherapies. But as with everything Lawrence, this did not stop him from living life. He enjoyed going to: Padres games with his siblings, fishing at the Imperial Beach Pier where he would spend hours at a time, watching soccer games at Caliente with his friend Lorenzo, visiting his grandparents and Aunt Lupe in Mexico, fishing and going to Disneyland with cousins: Guero, Omar, and Henry, taking trips to Puerto Nuevo and eating mariscos with his Uncle Pete and Aunt Carmen, collecting Star Wars memorabilia, and enjoying his young nephew Christian who would soon be known as 'ittle boy' in his eyes. He would thrive with the light and joy that Christian brought, becoming best friends.
