Mrs. Johnson was born in Nashville, TN, on January 7, 1923, the daughter of the late David Joseph Kennedy and Bessie Lee White Kennedy. She served as band director for Cumberland High School and graduated from Peabody College during World War II. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Belmont Heights Baptist Church and taught a Pre-School Sunday School Class for many years. She retired as a school teacher after forty years of service. Mrs. Johnson put her family as her first priority and was a caregiver to all. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Elzie Raymond Johnson; a daughter, Rosemary Kay Mosier; and nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Raymond Frank (Susan) Johnson, Robert Edward (Linda) Johnson, and William Elzie Johnson; twelve grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017, at one o’clock, Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Friday from four o’clock until eight o’clock and Saturday from noon until the funeral hour at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
