William Frederick Langdon

William Frederick Langdon. Born in Nashville on August 21st 1933, to Aloysius and Minnie Langdon. He was the third child of six. Siblings are David (deceased), Joseph (deceased), James, Patrick and Patricia (deceased).

They were all raised in North Nashville and grew up heavily involved in the church. He attended The Assumption School and then graduated from Father Ryan High school in 1952. During his school years, he and his brothers sang at The Church of The Assumption and actually lived next door to the church, allowing him to stay very active in church life and functions. He loved the church and loved to sing. He was a proficient tenor and sang at many occasions, including both his daughters’ weddings.

After high school, he entered the Naval Reserves from 1952 to 1960. He was unable to go active Naval service and was discharged with honorable medical discharge.

In 1960 he married the girl he first met at a CYO dance at the Buddeke home. That girl was Nancy Ann Garner. She was active in St. Ann’s parish and they were married there on June 4th, 1960.

Bill, as everyone called him, made a living as a commercial artist. He started his own silk screening and commercial art business, Complete Art, which was located in the Buddeke home in which he met his wife Nancy. He happily ran this business with the help of Nancy and their children for 20 years until he decided to close and pursue other endeavors. Between the years of 1962 and 1970, Bill and Nancy had 6 children – Barry, Maria, Karen, Patrice (deceased), Brian, and Chad. He worked hard to put them all through St. Pius and Father Ryan High School.

In March 2001, Bill suffered a debilitating stroke. With the tremendous loving care of his wife Nancy, he lived comfortably for his last eighteen years in their home in Joelton, where he lived out his life loving his family. Bill has 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, father-in-law, son, brother, uncle and friend. He was a wonderful, honest and Christian man who worked to support and raise a loving family surrounded by friends.
