Virginia "Ginna" Foster Cannon, Age 46, unexpectedly passed away in her sleep Saturday, December 7th, 2019. She will be missed by her husband Mark, daughter Lillian (Lolly) and step-daughter Emma; parents Laura (James) Smith and John (Stephanie) Foster; sister Laing (John) Rikkers, and cherished nephews, nieces, cousins, uncles and aunts. Ginna grew up in New York City, attending The Chapin School, graduating from Westminster School in 1991. She received a Bachelor’s degree from Harvard College in 1995 and a Master’s of Business Administration from Columbia Business School. She worked in the publishing industry before taking a cross country road trip in search of a new place to live, discovering Nashville and moving there in 2006. She continued her education and received a Master’s of Liberal Arts and Sciences from Vanderbilt, and a Doctorate in Historic Preservation from Middle Tennessee State University. She was the Director of Cultural Heritage and Tourism for the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce, and Chairman of the Rutherford Arts Alliance. Ginna’s adventurous and generous spirit touched everyone who knew her. But most of all, she was a devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 14th at Christ Church Cathedral,900 Broadway, Nashville, TN 37203 at twelve thirty in the afternoon. There will be a gathering of friends and family from twelve noon until twelve thirty prior to the service.
