Virginia Ann Reed Wilkins

Virginia Ann “Ginny” Reed Wilkins, was born December 6, 1934, and died December 22, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo Reed and Sadadine Thompson Reed; her beloved husband of 62 years, Percy Wilkins, Jr.; and her son-in-law, Doug Ivey. She is survived by her daughters, Christy Ivey and Melora Turner (Davis), and her granddaughters, Leigh Ivey Hicks (Jack), Virginia Ann Ivey, Emily Caroline Turner and Christy Reed Turner.

Virginia was a graduate of Seaford High School in Delaware and attended East Carolina College in Greenville, NC. Many of the happiest years of her life were spent in Murfreesboro where she and Percy reared their children. There Ginny was active in Charity Circle, the Hospital Auxiliary, including the Follies, garden and bridge clubs, and taught preschool at First United Methodist Church. She leaves her family with her legacy of abiding love and devotion. She always felt her family was the most important part of her life.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2:00 at West End United Methodist Church, where Virginia was a longtime member.

The family wishes to thank her friends, neighbors, and Blakeford staff for the visits and support during her illness and her sweet and loving caregivers from Home Instead and Alive Hospice.
