Thomas McClellan Cox, age 84, born in Nashville, TN on February 15, 1935 to Herbert L. Cox and Rose Ethelene Walker passed away on January 29, 2020. Dr. Cox is also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Dr. Cox is survived by his wife of 64 years Wyoma Cox; children, Pamela (Don) Bell, Tammy (Larry) Tarter, Bobby (Delana) Cox, and Jeff (Becky) Cox; 10 grandchildren and their spouses; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Dr. Cox went to school to become a pastor at Trevecca, where he met his wife Wyoma. Once finishing school, he found his home at the Church of Nazarene. He served the church faithfully as a pastor and later a District Superintendent for over 40 years. Dr. Cox was very family oriented and loved God and his church. He had a great sense of humor and loved teasing “Momma” and spending time with his children who all had special nicknames also.
Thomas had a sweet spirit and such a generous heart. He was a wonderful dad, husband, and leader.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2020 from 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m. at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service immediately following in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall. Entombment will be held in the Woodlawn Cross Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to the Trevecca Nazarene University, 333 Murfreesboro Pike Nashville, TN 37210.
