Thomas "Tom" E. Cathey

Thomas E. Cathey, age 93. Born August 5. 1931, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Cathey Compton and father, Percy E. Cathey and He has a half sister, Robbie Garrett. He is survived by his wife, Carol A. Cathey; daughters, Tommie Friermuth (George) of Fayetteville, TN; Linda Reed (Jim) of Russellville, KY; and Caprice Snyder (Art) of Michigan City, MS; two grandchildren, Kellie Rome and Ryan Williams; great-grandchildren, Madison "Maddie" Rome; Michael "Seth" Rome; Lily Sue and Ava Grace Williams; stepchildren, Jeffrey Von Rehder; Gregory Von Rehder; and Teryn E. Hatch; step grandchildren, Guerrin Von Rehder; Brenden Von Rehder; Tyler Von Rehder; Ryan Von Rehder; Joseph Hatch; Michael Hatch; and Robert Hatch. Mr. Cathey was a Master Mason for more than 60 years at B.V.-E.N. Lodge 560. The American Legion Post 88 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1291. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He retired as Captain from the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department after 32 years of service.

Tom enjoyed sports and was a pitcher in Green Cove Springs, FL and several years in the old Dixie League in Nashville.

Visitation will be November 23, 2024 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm with Masonic Service at 2:00pm. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Memorial Park - Cross Mausoleum. Arrangement by Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Ln., Nashville, TN 37204. In accordance with his wishes, no memorial service is scheduled.
