Steven Irwin Geringer, age 76, passed away Wednesday, the 7th of September, 2022. He was born on March 8, 1946 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Ethel Helen (Moskovitz) and Bernard Geringer, and is survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda; his son, Cole; and his daughter-in law, Miranda. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Wolff, Mila and Wynne; as well as his brother, Michael, and sister, Judy.
Steve was a native Nashvillian, who enjoyed a lifelong career in healthcare. Following his completion of high school at Hillsboro High, he attended the University of Pennsylvania at the Wharton School of Business. His career started with Hospital Affiliates in Nashville, TN, eventually moving west to Phoenix, AZ with his family to become President and Chief Executive Officer of PCS. Under his watch, Steve spearheaded the company’s success, eventually leading to the company’s sale to pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly. Steve was a fearless leader, adored by his family and coworkers alike. The ultimate “people person”, Steve lived by a creed of treating everyone with respect, from the janitor and mailroom clerk, to the C-suite, and anyone and everyone in between. Any person who ever met Steve always remembered him with a smile, a funny story or just as a “really cool guy”. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, and was relatable to everyone, in one way or another.
Steve was a world-traveler, first for business, and then later for pleasure, traveling often with his family, and enjoyed all that life had to offer.
Steve could often be found behind his desk, even well into retirement, working on a deal, an investment or just trying to help a friend or colleague advance their career in any way he could. When not behind his desk, Steve most enjoyed spending his time with his tightknit family- his wife, Linda, who always had another “terrible idea” (which meant he really liked it); his son, Cole, who he lived vicariously through in his on-field and off-field endeavors , and whom he taught all of his life wisdom to – how to succeed in business, and as well, how to treat people; his daughter, Miranda, who could do no wrong in baking him his favorite desserts, and who he so admired in raising three beautiful children; his grandson, Wolff, who he always took an interest in, both academically and athletically; his granddaughter Mila, an ever-present light in his world; and granddaughter Wynne, who always made him laugh and smile.
A private, family burial will take place.
