Sheila June Jacobs, age 79, of Nashville, TN passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 8, 2022.
Sheila was born on October 31, 1942. Daughter of Alfred Fertick and Miriam Abrams Fertick Ruday. Sheila grew up in Silver Spring, MD and graduated from the University of Maryland, majoring in speech therapy. Sheila relocated to Washington, D.C. where she met and married William (Bill) Jacobs in 1967. Their son Matthew Jacobs was born in Maryland. They then relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio then to Baton Rouge, LA where their daughter Jill was born. She loved her children very much.
Sheila was a full time Mother until the late 1970s. She began working at an advertising agency and eventually started her own public relations firm called Sheila Jacobs, Inc. later renamed Healthcare Images. Her firm was quite successful specializing in advertising for health care services.
She then ventured out into fund raising and relocated to Albuquerque, NM then to Phoenix, AZ. She moved to Nashville, TN and accepted a job at Vanderbilt University as a Development Officer raising funds for various areas including autism and childhood diseases.
In retirement Sheila donated a significant amount of her time to the Nashville Adult Literacy Council where she taught immigrants English language skills to enrich their lives. She adored the work she did with this program. She was a gifted teacher and her students were devoted to her.
Sheila believed in equal rights, helping the less fortunate and donating her time to help the community.
Sheila is survived by her son Matthew (Angel) Jacobs, her daughter Jill Jacobs, her brother David (Linda) Fertick, her nephews Justin (Faith) Fertick and their daughter Taylor and son Raiden, Andy Fertick, Ryan Fertick and her niece Kristi (Philipp) Habermann and their daughter Summer. She also had many friends that she loved very much.
