I served with m/sgt Macon in Germany 1962. He always talked about his son in law Faron Young. I became a fan of his son in law because of his influence. M/sgt Macon was one of the best leaders I met while in the Army. He was our motor sgt. while I was in the 14th Cav. May he rest in peace.

I met SGM Macon in 1966 while I was a company clerk at Ft. Knox, KY.  I used to take reports down to his office which was over our company.  We would talk about his favorite son-law, Faron Young.  He was always bragging about him.  I didn't know at the time that he was a grandson of Uncle Dave Macon.  I left Ft. Knox for Vietnam and sent him a Christmas card, not knowing if he would receive it or not.  I got a card in return from him which I still have.  I also corresponded with Faron and told him of knowing his father-in-law.  SGM Macon was a great guy.  I only wish that I knew he was still living in the Nashville area when I made my yearly trips there.  I would have loved to visited with him one more time.  God Bless him.

Command Sargent Major Macon was our Sargent Major in Viet Nam.  I got to meet him at the St. Louis reunion.  I really enjoyed visiting with him.  To me he was a fine man.  God Bless you.

Grandpa was kind and generous to me at a difficult time in my life. I'm thankful to have known him.

Like many others, I was honored to know Mr. Macon through his volunteer work at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Mr. Macon provided service to our country during three wars. I cannot even imagine the anguish and turmoil he must have experienced during those experiences, yet I have never met a man as kind, gentle, humble, dedicated, and giving. Mr. Macon's sunset on earth has made for a beautiful sunrise in Heaven. My condolences are extended to Mr. Macon's family, and please know that he will not be forgotten.

"Uncle Bobby" was a truly Great man, a rare kind of man whose like is becoming rarer at far too fast a pace. I was lucky to know and love him. I will greatly miss him, and I look forward to seeing him again on the Other Side. His loss diminishes the world, but is a gain for Heaven. My prayers and love go out to the family.

I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Macon during my time at the Country Music Hall of Fame.  He set a tremendous example for those of us who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him.  To me, he is a true hero.  Not merely for his military service, but for the heroic way he approached each day of life.  I will remember him as someone who was relentlessly optimistic, always greeting others with a smile and kind words intended to uplift.  Notice that he was not one to gripe, disparage, or put others below himself.  I believe a lot of the joy we saw in him came from his being other-centered and not self-centered.  That is true victory in this life.  He reflected the genuine loving goodness of God.  For that, I will always consider myself blessed to have known him.  He is with us still and stronger in spirit than he ever could have been before.  My thoughts are with those who mourn his passing.  I have no doubt that he is watching over us now in his new role as Guardian Angel.

"Uncle Bobby" was my husband, Bernie Doubler's, Uncle.  I am so blessed to have known this kind and principled man. He lived his life happily helping others, always so gracious and considerate.  He was such a pleasure to be with. He was a man of great strength of character and full of love and goodness.  Truly a life to emulate.  Thank you, Uncle Bobby. Peace.

I worked with Mr. Macon at the Country Music Hall Of Fame & Museum. I had the utmost respect for him. He was a good man and he will be missed. I'd like to express my condolences to his family and friends; may God give you peace, comfort, hope and strength.

I lost one of my best friends & the greatest man I have ever known. For those who were blessed to have known him, we all know how truly wonderful he was. For his entire 87 years on this earth he was a living guardian angel to all he knew, he took care of everybody and that's the way he liked it. A veteran of WWII, Korea & Vietnam he was a national treasure, he embodied the spirit of America and taught us all by example, showing us just how to make one's life really matter. Words can't describe how grateful I am to have been his friend, we had so many fun adventures. Whether it was going to Cracker Barrel (he always liked Thursday's for the turkey & dressing) or fishing out rocks out of his creek bed or just sitting in his living room talking....every moment was golden with Mr. Macon. We were there for each other in good times & bad and not a day will go by for the rest of my life that I won't think of him, he taught me so much. Our loss is Heaven's gain. I'll miss my friend but know I'll see him again. Do you think there are creek beds in heaven that we can explore?

THE CHURCH FAMILY OF HAYNES CHAPEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH AT 5935 WOODBURY RD MURFREESBORO , TENNESSEE ARE SO SAD TO HEAR OF MR. MACON'S PASSING. HE WAS A VERY DEDICATED PERSON.HAYNES CHAPEL WAS THE HOME CHURCH OF UNCLE DAVE MACON. HE WAS ONCE THE SONG LEADER AND HIS WIFE PLAYED THE PIANO. MR.  ROBERT MADE REGULAR CONTRIBUTIONS TO HAYNES CHAPEL FOR WHICH WE WILL FOREVER BE GREATFUL. WE KNOW IS RESTING IN PEACE NOW.

Robert Macon was a special part of our Country 101 meetings we have here in the Gallatin area for a long time and even was featured in a tribute we did to his grandfather, Uncle Dave Macon, some years back. He was always kind, always informative, and always a friend to the many people who met and knew him. He was also an excellent part of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, and I went through that hall at one time with Ernest Ferguson and with Robert as a guide for him. He will be sadly missed but always remembered. May God bless his family in this time.

I considered Robert a dear friend and wonderful volunteer at the 6th Cavalry Museum.  His love for his family, the Lord and his Country were apparent in all he did.  He would drive 2 hours from Nashville for the museum's outdoor work days and work circles around men generations younger than he. I feel truly fortunate and blessed to have known him and to have such great memories.

Gene and I were saddened to learn that Mr. Macon had passed to his eternal reward. We know of his faith, and that he is now at home with his loved ones there and with Jesus. We have been praying daily for him, and for you. Our love, Gene and Buddy Worrell
