We had planned a lunch together the week you passed and was counting on it so much. Haven't seen you for about 5 years and was glad to talk to you on the phone and hear that laugh of yours one more time.
I will miss the sea stories we shared and the laughs about our time abroad ship !

I told you I walked out of my first day on the job at Amazon because I got hungry for a Sonic burger.
I know I haven't seen you for 5 years now but I'll miss you forever !

Mike was a lot quieter than I was so he didn't use as many words as I often did. However, I learned to speak less and listen more when Mike and I were having a conversation. Mike had many good things to say and I was always blessed to hear his heart. He and I had a very meaningful conversation back in June at our LifeWay friends luncheon at Hi-Fi Clyde's. I walked away feeling blessed. To Mike's family and friends I say, "Take heart in knowing that Mike knew the One who has the power over death!" Take comfort in God's word. Rest in peace my friend.

Good people pass away; the Godly often die before their time. But no one seems to care or wonder why. No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come. For those who follow Godly paths will rest in peace when they die. Isaiah 57:1-2 NLT

I'll miss our coffee meet ups. Hanging out at Starbucks we could kill 3 or 4 hours just shooting the breeze.  Debating topics from Titans to politics to religion and everything in between.

With his back issues we had to skip our golf outings and stick with coffee. Didn't really matter much what we did, Mike was sure to have some question to ask me intending to start a conversation that he had been pondering on beforehand. With any topic we'd be sure to gab for hours and hours. 

Mike was always so accepting of my ideas and opinions. Even though he disagreed many times he was never unkind. I always felt a special friendship was in our future from the first few years. Our 20 years of friendship just doesn't seem like enough. When I look at Mike's picture now it just makes me want to call him. 

Mike was just one of those very special friends. If you have more than a few friends like Mike, you should consider yourself so blessed. He was non judgemental, giving, always had something positive to share. Sometimes those shares were also really humorous and often very insightful. I look back on our golf outings as some of the most joyous days of my life! God was all over that foursome. You could feel HIS presence in the Christian friendship we all shared while playing this fun little game of golf.

I am deeply saddened to receive the news of Mike's passing.    He consoled me during the time of my wife's passing, which was just a few months ago.   He  truly understood what I was going through and he was kind enough to help.   My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and former co-workers. .......Keith Ragan

Mike was such a generous person.  Knowledgeable and witty.   He always was concerned  for my safety living alone.   I will miss his “bear” hugs and waiving at each other as he passed in the bug with the top down.   

Mike was one of the nicest people and neighbors that I have known. Cory and I will really miss him and fondly remember our good times and interesting conversations with him, along with his generosity.  

I loved talking with Mike. I remember a talk once when he told me about his time in the service when he was on a ship in the Bay of Bengal on Christmas day and silently a Russian sub rose up next to them and wished them all a Merry Christmas and then silently slipped back below the water's surface.

You are missed deeply.

While we worked together for years, at LifeWay, we really didn't get to know each other until we were both retired. I so enjoyed our many lunches together, where we would talk about anything and everything! I am so thankful for the many times that Mike initiated get-togethers, with our past co-workers and retirees. Though it's been several years since he lost Glenda, the love of his life, Mike was still mourning her and knew that, by God's grace, they would be reunited in heaven. He always spoke fondly of his son, Nick, and his grandkids. I'll miss him so much but, I'm glad he's no longer lonely, with his bride and other family and friends, in God's presence! I am reminded of one of our many conversations on faith, where the placement of the comma, in a specific biblical verse, was of particular interest.. From Luke 23, Jesus says "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise". I take great comfort in knowing that you, and all our loved ones that have gone on before us, now understand that "today" is not when Jesus was speaking, but that the thief, crucified beside Him, would be with Him on that very same day! Until we meet again brother!
