Philip Wayne Minor age 90, of Brentwood, TN passed away peacefully on May 23rd, 2018. He is preceded in death by parents Jasper Lee Minor and Caroline Mills Minor; siblings James L. Minor, Helen M. Blackford, Clemmie Edmundson and Sophie J. Harris. Survived by his wife of 70 years, Vema Smith Minor and daughter Lynee` (Jim) Durham and granddaughter Allison; son Randall Minor and grandchildren Taylor (Clint) Clark, Nathan Minor, Kelsey and Davis Minor and great-grandson Henry Clark. Philip was born and raised in Cunningham, TN near Clarksville and graduated from Central High School and later attended Austin Peay State University after serving in the US Army (Germany) during and after WW II. After returning home, he married the love of his life, Vema, and worked construction at Fort Campbell, KY during his early married life. The majority of his working life was spent at Avco Corporation in Nashville, TN where he also worked with his older brother, James. He was a great dad, granddad and great-granddad and he enjoyed the outdoors, especially farming. He spread that love for agriculture to his grandchildren by giving them rides on tractors and in big diesel trucks. He was funny and always telling jokes to anyone who would listen. His joy was his family and he was known to all as “Pa" . Pa loved country music and was soft-hearted. He was an inventor and he patented a device for machinists to use when making precision parts. He and his wife were devoted members of Forest Hills United Methodist Church and were active in the Paul Beasley Sunday School class throughout their married life in Nashville. He will be truly missed. He would want to give special thanks to Angela Marable, Latasha Gregory, Beverly Headley, Kelly Bowers and the Staff at Belvedere Commons of Franklin for their loving care. Celebration of Life Services will be on Saturday, May 26th, 2018 at two-thirty in the afternoon, Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall. Visitation with family and friends will be Saturday from one o’clock in the afternoon until the service at Woodlawn. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Forest Hills United Methodist Church in Brentwood, Tennessee.
