Paskel Harmon of Pegram, Tennessee passed away on November 7, 2018 at The Meadows in Nashville. He was born on February 23, 1931 on the family farm located on Harmon Road, just outside of New Tazewell, Tennessee. Harmon Road had been named for his ancestors who settled there in the early 1800's.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter H. and Rosa Greer Harmon, his only daughter Valerie Jane Harmon Griffin, his brothers David Harmon of Lynchburg, Virginia, Ray Harmon of Briceville, Tennessee and his twin brother Haskel Harmon of New Tazewell.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Martha "Jane" Runions Harmon. They were married at Miston Baptist Church in Dyer County, Tennessee on December 23, 1961.
He was a retired Electrician for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Union City, Tennessee, where he had previously resided.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1951 until 1955, aboard the destroyer U.S.S. Buck. He had been an active member of the U.S.S. Buck reunions across the United States.
He was an active member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee and was also a member of their Happy Hearts Senior organization.
He is survived by his son Joel Harmon of Pegram, Tennessee and his wife Rebecca, his sister, Thelma Harmon Vance of New Tazewell, Tennessee.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be Thursday Nov 15, 2018 at 11 am at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee.
Memorial Service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday Nov 15, 2018 at Bellevue Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee.
In Lieu of Flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the building fund of Bellevue Baptist Church 7400 Hwy 70 S, Nashville, Tennessee 37221 or to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure 4009 Hillsboro Pike, Suite 209, Nashville, Tennessee 37215.
