Nora Williams, having celebrated her 100th birthday last June, passed away peacefully September 27, 2021 at the Blakeford at Green Hills after a short illness. Nora was a lifelong member of Belmont United Methodist Church and it's Jesse Rustin Class. She worked professionally in the Human Resources department of Cain Sloan Company her entire business career. Nora was extremely fit and active into her very late 90's. After she retired she was a regular volunteer at Baptist Hospital in Nashville and was also a steady volunteer in the church offices of Belmont United Methodist Church. She loved working in her yard including mowing her own grass into her mid 80's. Nora was a 1938 graduate of Hume Fogg High School and active in its reunion activities. Nora had a very quick wit and great laugh. Just last week when rejecting her pureed lunch she offered it to a family member. When he declined she sarcastically said "I guess it was easy for me to be generous when your food looks like that!"
Nora was predeceased by her parents, Ernest B. Holt Sr and Geneve F. Holt, her husband Thomas J. Williams, twin brother Ernest B. Holt Jr., sister in law Margaret F. Holt and dear friend and first cousin Bertie Sue Robertson Moore and her daughter Susan Moore Swain. Nora is survived by niece and nephew, Lynn Holt Ragland and Berry Holt (Celeste), and cousins Emily Swain and Tracy Swain Cochran.
Graveside services will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 660 Thompson Ln. Nashville, TN on Thursday, September 30 at 11:00am. Memorials can be made to Belmont United Methodist Church, 2007 Acklen Ave., Nashville, TN 37212, or the charity of your choice.
