Mary Joyce Sundermeier, age 86, of Brentwood, TN passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022. Mary was born April 29, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA, daughter of Lewis and Florence Doebley. She married Herbert Joseph Sundermeier on December 19, 1953 in Maryland he preceded her in death.
Funeral mass in her honor will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 8450, 9100 Crockett Rd, Brentwood, TN 37027. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 until the time of Mass.
Mary worked as purchasing secretary at St. Thomas Hospital for many years, then as an adult she went back to school, earning her degree at Nashville Tech. She then enjoyed a career with Occupational Therapy at the VA Hospital. Mary was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother with unconditional love for all. Her Catholic faith was very important to her and she maintained a strong devotion to her faith throughout her life. She was proud to be a part of the Legions of Mary. Mary loved to travel with friends and her sister, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Mary went through many obstacles in her life, and always handled them all with strength and grace.
Mary is survived by her daughter Jo Zadick (Mike); her daughter Jackie Silverstein (Gary); and her daughter Janie Le Clair (Mark); her sister Pickles Coxhead and her sister Kay Kaiser.12 Grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Herbert J. Sundermeier; her daughter Julia Sundermeier and her daughter Joyce Andrews; two sisters, Joan O'toole , and Ann Briggs; two brothers Joseph Doebley and her brother Jack Doebley.
