Mary Sue Conner Kelly – Age 93 of Nashville, formerly of Lenoir City, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in the evening on Wednesday, December 28, 2016. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Alfred L. Conner and Effie Farmer Conner and her sister Aileen C. Marshall. Mary is survived by her husband of 67 years Clyde C. Kelly, son C. Philip (Rebecca) Kelly and grandsons Jonathan Philip Kelly and James Andrew (Megan) Kelly. Following high school, Mary was employed by Knoxville Iron Company. She married Clyde C. Kelly in 1949 and in 1950 moved to Nashville, TN. There she was employed by the Southern Bell Telephone & Telegraph Company in the engineering department. Mary was involved in volunteer work for various nonprofit organizations including the American Heart Association, Red Cross, United Way, and others. A member of Woodmont Baptist Church for many years, Mary served on various committees and worked in the preschool department. At the time of her death, Mary was an active member of Forest Hills Baptist Church. She loved to travel. Mary and Clyde made multiple trips to Europe, Canada and Mexico. They also visited all but two of the fifty United States and visited all 95 counties in Tennessee. Mary was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family unconditionally. With her death, there is a sadness but there are memories that will stir the hearts of friends who knew her and family members who loved her dearly. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 2, 2017 from five o’clock until seven o’clock at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Forest Hills Baptist Church at two o’clock in the afternoon, with visitation one hour before the service at the church.
