Mary Gassaway JOHNSON, age 92, of Centerville, Tennessee, and previously of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022. Mary was born February 23, 1930 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late, Arthur Gassaway and Era Shirley Gassaway. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Everett E. Johnson, siblings, Carl Gassaway, Nick Gassaway, Paul Gassaway, Charlie Gassaway and Nell Gassaway Caldwell; step-daughter, Linda Ingram.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Glinda J. (Larry) Miles of Centerville; son, Edward A. (Bonita) Johnson; grandchildren, Christy N. (Scott) Collins of Arrington, Stephanie Jenkins of Bellevue Wesley (Tricia) Johnson of Shelbyville, Sheri Lynn (Jeff) Savely and Kevin Ingram and six great-grandchildren.
Mary a native Nashvillian, she graduated from Cohn High School. She was a gifted seamstress who was also gifted and crafty. Mary worked at various places during her life, including: May Hosiery, Ragland and Potter and lastly until retirement from Malone and Hyde Wholesale Grocer. She was a sweet and southern spirit whose personality was contagious. Mary loved her family and cherished the time with them always.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at eleven o'clock in the morning on Thursday, August 11, 2022 in Dignity Hall of Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home with a visitation one hour prior.
