I am one of the ED physicians in Richmond KP Emergency Department and knew Linda for a decade.  I first met her when I had just graduated training, and learned how to be doctor through her.  She was literally the breathing soul of Richmond ED.  She had many leadership roles there, but most of us remember her as definitively creating our “Richmond ED culture.”  She had onboarded nurses that now are our most seasoned and trusted team members.  Her mentorship extended to all of us.  Like many of us docs, I considered Linda one of my first mentors.  Ten years ago, as a new attending learning the ways of Richmond, I remember that one thing was clear – the “right” way and “best” way was Linda’s way.  She often helped me distinguish when I was being played and when I needed to give a patient a second look and more thought.  Like many of us in this group, I learned how to be better doctors by watching, listening, and following her – and I still find myself thinking during tough moments in the ED “what would Linda do?” 

Thank you Linda from all of us.  Your spirit lives on with your family at Richmond KP ED.

I will miss you Miss Linda. I can’t imagine not ever seeing  your beautiful smile  again. You are the sunshine that lit up the room and lifted my spirits. Whenever I would be ending my shift  leaving the ER in the evening time and you just started your shift, you are the one person I remember always greeting with a hug. A perfect way to end my long day. You will always be remembered by me and many as such a loving gentle soul yet a woman of strength and  wisdom  that lifted hearts and spirits. As an emergency physician, and the chief of the department, I worked alongside Linda in the Richmond ER for many years.  I recall coming in for night shifts and seeing her there at the Charge Nurse station--and saying to myself, "no matter what comes through the doors behind me, this is going to be a good shift" because of my faith in her.  

The physicians here describe Linda as the soul of our Richmond ER.  She was blessed with the most fundamental components of an excellent ER Nurse: equal parts compassion and grit; insight and quick reflexes; intelligence and humor.  I have deep regard and gratitude for her steady role in developing and sustaining our positive team culture for our department.  She taught many nurses in our ER over the years--many of whom are now our most seasoned and trusted team members.  And her mentorship extended to everyone in the department.  Many of us in this group learned to be better doctors by watching her and listening to her advice over the years.  

Linda was respected, trusted, and will be remembered with love by us all in the KP Richmond ER.  

Goodness, Linda, I will miss you.  You were a friend, a mentor, and a goddess in the Emergency Department.  You helped raise an entire generation of Emergency Physicians. You combined your compassion and intelligence with fierce love to be an incredible nurse. You have earned your wings.

I can’t believe you are gone—heaven is a lucky place but we will miss you here. 
I have a lot of stories—but my favorite is just seeing the smile— “I knew it was gonna be a good night Dr Huerta”.  “Thanks Linda— you know to call me Krista”.  “Ok.” And you did, but never at work. You had an ethic that worked for you just perfectly.  More importantly your ethic and compassion and humanity worked for your patients and your colleagues— and it still will.  We all have a little piece of you that you taught us.  Thank you— we will call on it when we need it.  We will carry you with us.  Thank you and rest in power you fierce and gentle soul.  And to your family, all my heart for your loss. 💜  i am so sorry . 

My name is Brian and I was a coworker of Linda's for more than 13 years. When I heard the passing of Linda on my birthday (2/2) I was completely heartbroken and at a loss of words. I share lockers with Linda and every time I opened that locker, I would ask myself, "I wonder when Linda is coming back? Or "Is Linda ever coming back?" There were talks about Linda coming back sooner than later but I figured in these unforeseen times we live in today, I said "there's no way Linda would want to come back to this mess, she's just going to retire and live it up." She left abruptly and I never got to hug her goodbye. Linda was the only one that knew everything about me. I would tell her all my secrets because I gained that trust with her. If I had a problem, I would always seek to her for advice and her advice was always solid in the advice she gave me. I taught her many things as well. Other than nursing, I was one of her favorite cooks. I would bring in anything that I cooked from my kitchen and she would love each and every bite and she would compliment me so much. She was also known for this chicken salad she would make and oh my gosh, that chicken salad was so good, I couldn't wait for her to make it again for me and the staff. I showed her light in an air fryer. I brought the air fryer to work one day and promoted it and demonstrated it to her. We made chicken wings. When she saw how good the chicken was made in the air fryer, the very next day, she bought an air fryer. I will miss her laugh. She always thought I was silly as her co-worker because I would always tell her jokes constantly. She is highly looked up to as a nurse role model because she was always cool, calm and collective, never frazzled at anything, and her skills as a nurse, wow, amazing. Linda, I will miss you. You were a super-hero, a kind hearted, and loving  person. Still hard to process this but til we meet again. Rest in Paradise. We will honor your legacy at work and never be forgotten. 

 I have known Linda since school days at Washington Jr. High and we both went to Pearl High  and graduated from there. Such a beautiful person and my condolences to the family. May God continue to strengthen the family and you are in my prayers. 

I met Linda while working at the Kaiser Richmond Emergency Dept. She was one of the kindest and sweetest people I worked with. She always had a smile for you, and was so loving and caring. She was a perfect fit for the emergency dept - never lost her cool and was always calm and in control. I wish I had visited more often to say hello. Another too often reminder of how you can lose those you cherish and hold dear. 

To Tony and the entire family Linda and l became friends when we were in the 7th grade. We attended school together at Washington Jr. High School,  Pearl High School and Tennessee State University.  We ran in to each other in 1988 when l moved to back to Davidson County.  We saw each other often she worked in Hermitage,  l live in Hermitage. The last time l saw her she told me she had accepted a position in San Francisco.  Our friendship continued on Facebook when she relocated.  I read about Linda's passing on a friend's Facebook post. I want each of you to know that l am deeply saddened by her death.  I will always remember Linda as the beautiful, graceful and loving person she was. I'm praying that God will comfort each of you during this difficult time.

Linda has touched so many lives with her  quiet manner, generous spirit  and kindness.  She was an excellent and caring nurse. I am thankful to have  worked with her and to have called her friend.

I am so sorry to hear of Linda’s passing. We were classmates at Pearl High School in Nashville, class of 73. We all had so much fun together. I would keep up with her on Facebook and could tell she was living a beautiful life with you. I pray God will comfort you and provide peace in the days and years to come.

There are no words to express the hurt and pain of learning this devastating news of Linda's passing.   She and I worked together for many years at Summit Medical Center in the Emergency Department.   Linda had an extraordinary way of caring for her patients and making all co-workers feel calm in the worst situation.   My prayers 🙏are with you and all of dear children and grandchildren.   My friend is gone, but never will be forgotten.
