Katherine Dinkins Graham

Katherine Rowena Dinkins Graham was born on April 17, 1923 in Duncan, Mississippi. She was predeceased by her husband, Willis S. Graham. She was a member of the West End United Methodist Church and a former Trustee.

Mrs. Graham was a member of the Belle Meade Country Club, the Centennial Club, Greenbriar Garden Club, the Friday Club and many other organizations. She was active for many years with the American Red Cross, as well as, the Nashville Children’s Theater where she served as a board member and officer.

Mrs. Graham was active in the Women’s Golf world for many years, as a result of her accomplishments, three trophies are named in her honor. Katherine served as President of the Nashville Women’s Golf Association and the Women’s Southern Golf Association. She was elected to the United States Golf Association Women’s Committee in 1974 and served as Chairman in 1986-1987. In 1990, the USGA appointed her as Captain of their women’s golf team, to participate in the World Amateur Team Championship’s in Christ Church, New Zealand. The team won the championship and was at that time the only worldwide trophy held by the United States.

In 1991, Katherine was honored by the University of Tennessee with its first Legends of Golf Award. She was installed into the Tennessee Golf Hall of Fame and there is a room named in her honor at Golf House Tennessee.

She is survived by her sister, Janice D. Ferguson of Hartwell, GA; niece, Jan Hadden of Hartwell; nephew, John Ferguson of Chesterfield, VA and four great-nieces. She has a number of Nashville cousins to whom she was very devoted.

Katherine would be honored by contributions to the West End United Methodist Church, the Nashville Humane Society, the Tennessee Gold Foundation or Amedisys Hospice.
