Mr. Joseph Henry Strasser III, age 85, of Brentwood, TN, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 15, 2018. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 57 years, Elena Mae (Sue) Strasser.
Mr. Strasser was born in Nashville, TN, on August 24, 1932, the son of the late Joseph Henry Strasser II and Evelyn Elizabeth Greer Strasser. Mr. Strasser graduated from Central High School and the University of Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve Engineer Group, ending his service as a Captain in 1964. Mr. Strasser retired from Genesco where he worked as an engineer for many years. A life-long UT football fan, Mr. Strasser spent many hours cheering on the Vols with his family and friends. He enjoyed coon hunting and bred award-winning coon hunting dogs—his most famous dog was Midnight Mike.
Survivors include his sister, Nancy Strasser Forshee; two nieces, Audrey Mae Clark (Bruce) and Sharon Haukohl (Bruce); two nephews, David Forshee (Sarah) and Mark Forshee; one great niece, four great nephews and a host of beloved friends from Morning Pointe Assisted Living of Brentwood.
Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Friday, June 22, 2018 from two thirty until four o’clock at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home with a chapel service at four o’clock.
