John Leo Kolb, age 90, passed away October 25, 2019 in Nashville, TN. He was born August 28, 1929 in St. Cloud, MN to the late John Leo Kolb and Bernadette Unger Kolb. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Kolb Price. John is survived by his wife of 69 years, Trude Kessler Kolb, Son Raymond Kolb, daughter and son-in-law, Joan Bernadette and Patrick Murphy, grandchildren, Clare Murphy Martinez, Ellyse Murphy, Raymond Kolb, Jr., and 3 great grandchildren, Brittany and Ethan Kolb and Ryan Martinez.
John grew up in Melrose, MN. He joined the Army and was stationed in Vienna, Austria near the end of WWII. While in Vienna, he met and married Austrian, Trude Kessler.
After the war, John worked for the Civil Service in the OSS intelligence division for 5 years. In 1952, John and his family returned to the States where he began his 30 year career with The Royal Insurance Company in San Francisco, CA. During his tenure with the Royal, John lived in Denver, CO and Memphis, TN. After retiring, John spent the majority of his years living in Vienna with wife, Trude, where they spent many happy years with family and friends.
John had many interests including travel, reading, hunting, fishing, bird watching and coin collecting.
A memorial service will be held for John on November 16, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Henry Church (Chapel) Nashville, TN.
