John Houston Burke, Jr. passed away on December 26, 2020. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee and spent most of his life in the Nashville and Donelson area. He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp. during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Lebanon Road Church of Christ for more than 60 years. He retired from TDOT as Regional Engineer after over 40 years of service.
He was predeceased by his father John H. Burke, Sr. (who passed away when John was 3 years old}, his mother Jessie Coffee Burke Suiter and his stepdad Lacy Suiter, his brother Lacy E. Suiter, and his son John Houston (Jay) Burke, III.
He is survived by the love of his life for over 70 years, Milbrey Deane Mattox Burke, daughter Nancy Burke Walden (Rick) grandchildren Lacey Walden Madras (Christopher) Lee Andrew Walden (Leah) and two great grandsons Ryan Burke Madras and Reid Barrett Madras.
There will be a graveside service on Tuesday December 29th at 1 pm at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. The family would like to extend special thanks Ralph Brewer, Bailey Heflin and Lynn Wright for their special thoughts and happy memories, the staff and nurses of NHC Place Sumner, nieces and nephews, family and his faithful and many friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort, Lebanon Road Church of Christ or a charity of your choice.
