James “Jim” Bernard Weimar. On the morning of January 25, 2015, Jim passed away after an intense battle with small cell carcinoma, surrounded by family and comforted by his wife. He was 75 years of age. Jim Weimar was born in Nashville, Tennessee on October 22, 1940. He was the second child of Edward Bernard Weimar and Mildred Stringfellow Weimar. He grew up in Green Hills and was an active member of the Hillsboro High School Class of 1958 and an alumni of Vanderbilt University. Jim Weimar was happily married to the love of his life, Anita Drake Weimar, for 52 years. Against all odds, with 3 small children in tow, Jim and Anita started Mid-State Industrial Supply, Inc. and J.B. Weimar, Inc., which recently celebrated 43 and 41 years of business, respectively, in the competitive petroleum industry. Jim rolled with the punches and adversities in life and always tenaciously bounced back with his trademark kindness, generosity, humility, and sense of humor intact. His sense of fairness carried over into his personal life as an equal opportunity foodie. He did not discriminate between his love of reading cooking magazines and books, watching the Food network, experimenting with food recipes, eating at great restaurants, or enjoying a burger from a local food truck. He also had the good fortune of never meeting a glass of merlot that he disliked. He loved going to work and the people he worked with, going to Titans games (especially when they were having a winning season), spending time with his family, and serving as Past President and Treasurer of the Tennessee Food and Convenience Store Association (formerly “TOMA”), and as an active supporter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In short, Jim Weimar was a uncommonly good man. He will be missed terribly by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his children, Deborah Weimar Yepsen (Ray), Karen M. Weimar, and James Bradley Weimar (Laura); brother Tom Weimar (Mary Ann) of Germantown, TN; sister-in-law Barbara Jones (Jim); his grandchildren Kirby Yepsen and Erin Yepsen of Franklin, Tennessee; Hunter Weimar, Elise Weimar, and Parker Weimar, of Brentwood, Tennessee; and his sassy little Shih Tzu Gidget Weimar. The Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at ten o’clock on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Woodlawn's Dignity Hall with Lee Brown, and the Rev. James O. Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Gathering with the family will be Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from two until four. and six until eight p.m. at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN, (615) 383-4754. Pallbearers will be Myron Manker, Ray Yepsen, Hunter Weimar, Steve Robinson, Ken Warren, and Scott Fink. Honorary pallbearers are employees of Mid-State Industrial Supply, Inc. and J.B. Weimar, Inc., all of whom Jim considered a part of his family and held a special place in his heart. Memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship of Christian Athletes, www.fcanashville.org or happytaleshumane.com, or in lieu of a donation, Jim would like that you will do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for another person in his memory. The family would also like to thank Dr. Ruth Lamar who took exceptional care of him, and whose boundless compassion and dedication to her patients and the practice of oncology is greatly appreciated.
