JAMES A. WEBB, III passed away April 18, 2019. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Arrington Webb, Jr. (deceased), and is survived by his wife, Rebecca Smotherman Webb, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Cromer Smotherman (deceased) of Lawrenceburg, and sons, Jim IV (Tayler), Chris, and Charles, as well as two grandchildren, Abby and James Webb V.
He was a graduate of Montgomery Bell Academy where he was a Trustee Emeritus and a former Board Chairman. Jimmy graduated from Vanderbilt University, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta social fraternity. Upon graduation, he was commissioned into the Navy and served with MacV in Vietnam. In 1979, Bill Freeman and he formed the Freeman Webb Company with a primary focus on investment in and management of multi-family properties. He was a 32nd degree Mason and an Elder of First Presbyterian Church. He had a caring heart and was not boastful as he mentored so many individuals. Jimmy will be missed by all. Visitation will be held at First Presbyterian Church from noon to 2pm on Tuesday, April 23rd, followed by a memorial service with a private internment later at the Church.
