James Windle Hogg, age 86, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016 peacefully from Alzheimer's disease surrounded by his family. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 31 at 11am at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Dillard Adams, George H. Armistead III, Seawell Brandau, William Decker, Tom Harrington, Ed Holt, Frank Thomas, Reed Williams and Royce Williams serving as honorary pallbearers. A visitation will be held 1:00-3:00pm at First Presbyterian Church (4815 Franklin Road) with memorial services beginning at 3:00pm with Dr. Sandra Randleton officiating. He was preceded in death by parents, Mary & James Hogg; former wife, Bette Hartmann; and sister, Gertrude Sonnichsen. Jim is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Michael Hogg, Lori (Gregory) Carpenter, Bradley (Melanie) Hogg, Karen Bonner, and Katherine (Royce) Williams; and grandchildren, Ashley Carpenter, Lacey Carpenter, Dylan Carpenter, Susanna Hogg, Brogan Bonner, Mitchell Bonner, Emma (William) Decker, and Reed Williams. A Pennsylvania native, he was a very proud 1953 graduate of West Point. Jim served as a lieutenant for several years in the US Army before entering the business world in 1957. He was former owner/CEO of Anchor Wire in Goodlettsville, where he successfully patented 13 devices which are still being used today. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing at his beloved Daufuskee retreat and hunting with birddog, Patch. Jim was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church, Kiwanis Club of Nashville, and the US Foreign Relations Committee in DC. Jim also supported numerous other charities throughout his lifetime.
