Preceded in death by his parents James P. "Red" Dolan and Bobbie Louise Chilton-Dolan, and his partner Teresa Joan Sherrell, James is survived by children James Patrick Dolan III (Jen Zuccaro), Chris Louise Dolan (Jeff Hickey) and Amanda Neal Sherrell, brother Thomas Edward Dolan, sister Catherine Josephine Dolan-Hopkins, ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
James grew up in South Nashville and developed a passion for racing while hanging around the Fairgrounds Speedway. A graduate of Father Ryan High School, he served as a shoulder-fired missile specialist in the U.S. Army at the DMZ on the Korean Peninsula. Returning home, James served his fellow citizens as a dedicated employee of the State of Tennessee for over 30 years.
He was an avid music lover with favorites like Bob Dylan, the Winters Brothers Band, and the blues. James was a loving father, grandfather, and partner who, after retirement, liked hanging at home and working in his gardens where the irises he loved are about to bloom without him.
