Preceded in death by his father Larry R. Baker and step-father Lawrence J. Popp. He is survived by his mother, Mary Jane Popp, brothers, Stuart (Gerry) Baker, Mike Baker, Thomas (Vickie) Popp, Gary (Nancy) Popp, several nieces, a nephew and a great nephew and niece.
Jim was born in San Jose, CA on December 16, 1956. The family moved to Seattle, WA in 1958 where he graduated from Shoreline High School in 1975. He received his bachelor degree from the University of Washington and graduated from The Ohio State University Dental School in 1984. He got to practice dentistry briefly before going blind as a result of retinopathy.
Golf was his passion. After losing his sight he played in the United States Blind Golf Association and was their national champion twice. He loved the challenge and the many friendships he made.
Jim had multiple health issues after being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 15. He had great faith and fought valiantly to miraculously survive to age 65.
